Creating Communities - 20 Oct, 2009 |
| Welcome to artistcareer's November eNews. |
|
This month we look at public and community art, craft and design. Sydney was recently treated to the public art festival Art&About, including 2042: art on the street. Brisbane is experiencing the Arc Biennial and Melbourne's Laneway Commissions are famous the country over. With such a large and growing interest in public art and community cultural development, this area of artistic practice is definitely worth looking at. Community projects can be a fantastic way to extend your practice in ways that connect directly to audiences and lead to rewarding collaborations. This eNews is packed with information, including a new vodcast, interviews, artist profiles and links that reveal tips of the trade, things to watch out for and inspirational stories to get you started. We also have an exclusive international exposure competition and our usual selection of the month's stand-out career resources and organisations.

Working together - 26 May, 2009 |
In this edition of artistcareer's eNews we explore the importance of creative connections and career support. To get the ball rolling we ask international creative business advisor David Parish what he thinks about working in collaboration and in turn he invites us to be part of his current UNESCO project. We look at a new program connecting artists in Tasmania with affordable spaces, celebrate the winner of the Tips for TIPS prize, and provide you with links to 'mentorship' resources.
That’s not all, we speak with professional artist Guy Peppin and introduce artist-duo Match Box Projects. We finish up by keeping the information coming on 'developing an online presence' with an interview with founder and CEO Rebecca Cannon from Australian artist web services Artabase.
